Winter 2022 Grant Cycle

The Norwich Public Schools Education Foundation is pleased to announce it is now accepting applications for its Winter 2022 Grant Cycle from all Norwich Public Schools Staff.
Up to eight $250 Mini-Grants:
Up to eight Mini-Grants of up to $250 each. Mini-Grants will be awarded to NPS Staff for projects supporting student achievement. All NPS Staff are eligible to apply. Two (2) NPS Staff may join together on one (1) application and request up to $500. Please note: Prior NPS Education Foundation grant recipients who have not submitted final, end of year grant reports are not eligible for this grant.
Submission Deadline: March 18, 2022.

Foundation Awards 7 NPS Classrooms in Fall 2021 Grant Cycle

The Foundation is pleased to announce it has recently awarded $5,133.66 to Norwich Public Schools classrooms for the following grant programs in the Fall 2021 Grant Cycle:
Social & Emotional Learning to Succeed!;
Leveled Classroom Library Reading Books for ALL Grade 2 Classrooms Across the NPS District;
Hallway Sensory Path;
The Future of Children: Emotional & Social Learning;
Using Sensory Items to Help Students Achieve;
Student Showcase; and
English Language Learners Journey in Learning.
The Foundation thanks all its sponsors and donors for allowing us to continue our mission in supporting achievement and enrichment in each and every NPS student.
The Norwich Public Schools Education Foundation has awarded over $106,000 in grants to NPS classrooms supporting NPS student achievement and enrichment. The Norwich Public Schools Education Foundation is pleased to partner with Billy Wilson’s for a Pasta Dinner fundraiser. Dinners are $10 per person. Pasta; 2 Meatballs; and Garlic Bread! Take-out from Billy Wilson’s located at 57 Broadway, Norwich. Limited in-person seating.
All proceeds go to the Norwich Public Schools Education Foundation supporting NPS student achievement and enrichment. Special thanks to the generosity of Billy Wilson’s.

Foundation 2021 Fall Grant Cycle

The Norwich Public Schools Education Foundation is pleased to announce it is now accepting applications for its Fall 2021 Grant Cycle, until September 24, 2021. Up to ten (10) Mini-Grants of up to $250 each are available for award. Mini-Grants will be awarded to NPS Staff for projects supporting student achievement and/or enrichment. All NPS Staff are eligible to apply. NPS Staff may join together on one (1) application to share one (1) Mini-Grant award.

Norwich Public Schools Education Foundation Celebrates $100,000 to NPS Classroom

The Norwich Public Schools Education Foundation proudly celebrates a decade of supporting Norwich Public Schools student achievement and enrichment! The mission of the Norwich Public Schools Education Foundation is to support the Norwich Public Schools in providing a challenging and enriching educational experience to maximize the learning potential of every student for success in the 21st century.
The Norwich Public Schools Education Foundation was started by two NPS moms in response to drastic budget cuts in 2011. Thanks to the generous support of businesses, community groups, and people like you, a decade later, the Foundation is proud to announce it has now awarded over $100,000 to Norwich Public Schools classrooms in support of NPS student achievement and enrichment!
Grant projects funded by the Foundation over the past decade have been at the forefront of leading educational innovation and have spanned the diverse spectrum of educational content, thanks to the passionate and innovative teachers and staff of Norwich Public Schools.
Just a small sampling of such innovative and diverse grant projects fulfilled made possible by the Foundation include:
– Held a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) career fair and hands-on expo;
– Purchased over 25 new musical instruments and funded the repair of over 35 musical instruments facilitating the reinstatement of instrumental music at both NPS middle schools;
– Funded an after-school competitive math team;
– Funded a gym-sized National Geographic world map;
– Purchased 76 Document Cameras for classroom collaboration;
– Provided funding for Physical Education equipment;
– Provided funds for enhanced materials for English language learner students;
– Funded the purchase of over $5,000 in new books for every NPS school library;
– Funded hands-on inquiry-based science investigative projects;
– Funded projects supporting social, behavioral and life-skills development;
– Provided curriculum tool kits for Literacy and Math instructional materials.

Middle School Vaccination Clinics
FORMS FOR AGES 12 TO 15-YEAR-OLDS
As you may know, this week the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) is expected to allow the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine to be administered to children 12-15 years of age. In anticipation of that authorization, Norwich Public Schools is pleased to partner with UCFS Healthcare to offer middle school students COVID-19 vaccination clinics.

Kelly STEAM Magnet Middle School:
The first Pfizer dose will be administered Monday, May 17, starting at 8:30 am and the second dose will be administered Monday, June 7, also starting at 8:30 am. Kelly parents can return the consent form to the school or email it to Nurse Jajai Quinn at jquinn@norwichpublicschools.org.

Teachers Memorial Global Studies Magnet Middle School:
The first Pfizer dose will be administered Tuesday, May 18, starting at 8:30 am and the second dose will be administered Tuesday, June 8, also starting at 8:30 am. Global parents can return the consent form to the school or email it to Nurse Margaret Shieber at mshieber@norwichpublicschools.org.

Those eligible to participate in this clinic include:
Any NPS student age 12-15 with signed parent consent

If you are interested in having your child participating in this free clinic, please fill out this form and return it to your school nurse by 2 pm on Friday, May 14, 2021. This is an absolute deadline. Any students who do not have a consent form on file in the Nurse’s Office by this deadline will not be vaccinated.

Appointments will be scheduled once the consent form is received. Walk-ins (students coming in on the date of the clinic with a signed consent form) will not be permitted (because UCFS will not have brought a vaccine). There is no make-up day so if your child is absent they will not participate in this clinic.

The vaccination clinic is open to in-person and remote learners.

Foundation Awards 3 Grants – Winter / Spring 2021

The Norwich Public Schools Education Foundation recently awarded 3 grants in support of student achievement and enrichment to NPS classrooms, totaling $2,250. The first grant to a Moriarty classroom will provide high-interest reading material for English language learners. Another grant awarded to all NPS Science 4th and 6th grades will allow students to create DIY stream tables for hands-on, inquiry-based scientific instruction studying various types of erosion on land masses. Under the third grant awarded, to Uncas Elementary School, students will read books about resiliency and overcoming adversity as inspiration for a school mural that NPS staff and students’ families will help plan and create.
The Norwich Public Schools Education Foundation has awarded more than $97,750 to NPS classrooms in support of NPS student achievement and enrichment since its inception in 2011.
