Kathy Iovino and Yelitza Brooks Join NPS Education Foundation Board of Directors!

The Norwich Public Schools Education Foundation is proud to announce that Kathy Iovino and Yelitza Brooks have joined the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Kathy and Yelitza have committed their professional careers in support of quality education and in service to the youth of the greater Norwich community. The NPS Education Foundation is thrilled that it will benefit from their stewardship!
Kathy’s career in education began as a School Social Worker in the Plainfield Public Schools and then in Griswold Public Schools until her retirement in 2017. In addition to her role as
School Social Worker, Kathy also served as the School Readiness Coordinator, Early Childhood Coordinator and Early Childhood Special Education Facilitator.
Yelitza has been working in service to students and their families for ten years. She helps students and their families find the resources they require to support each student’s educational journey. Yelitza’s favorite aspect of her job is being a part of an amazing Norwich community.

NPS Education Foundation Awards Over $2,500 in Support of NPS Student Achievement!

The NPS Education Foundation recently awarded over $2,500 in grants to Norwich Public Schools classrooms supporting STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT. Highlights include a Multicultural Celebration designed to foster cultural awareness, inclusivity, and global citizenship at Uncas Elementary. A Play-Based Learning Project fostering creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking at Samuel Huntington Elementary. A Book Club for Grade 3 Readers at Uncas Elementary. Positive Traits in Grade Eight Project to support students’ respect for one another, responsibility, and mindfulness at Kelly STEAM Magnet Middle School. Lively Letters providing Reading Intervention Instructional Materials at Stanton Elementary School and Moriarty Environmental Sciences Magnet School. Accessible Learning Materials for Individualized Support at Stanton Elementary School. News2You, a Reading Comprehension and Writing Program at Mahan Elementary School & Family Resource Center. Sight Word and Writing Fluency for Resource Students Stanton Elementary School.

Norwich Public Schools Education Foundation Winter 2025 Grant Opportunities

The NPS Education Foundation is pleased to announce grant opportunities for Norwich Public Schools Classrooms in support of student achievement. The NPS Education Foundation is offering up to $2,500 total in its Winter 2025 Grant Program:
School – Community Grants:
– up to $1,250 total for one or more School-Community Grants (grants that support NPS student achievement and Norwich community engagement);
Mini-Grants:
– up to $1,250 total for one or more Mini-Grants of $250 (grants that support NPS student achievement; Two NPS staff can apply jointly on one application for $500, etc.).
The NPS Education Foundation has awarded over $131,000 to Norwich Public Schools classrooms in support of NPS student achievement since 2011.

NPS Education Foundation Thanks All Those Who Made 2024 Staff Follies a Success!

The NPS Education Foundation extends a huge THANK YOU to ALL those who made the 2025 Staff Follies a SUCCESS! Thank you to all NPS Staff for your awesome performances including: Kelly STEAM Magnet Middle School, Stanton Elementary School, Teachers’ Memorial Global Studies Magnet Middle School, Veterans Elementary School, and Wequonnoc Arts & Technology Magnet School!
Many other administrators and staff from Norwich Public Schools volunteered their time and talents to the Follies – Thank You!
A big THANK YOU as well to all the Norwich Public Schools students performing including Norwich Public Schools student-musicians, the Kelly STEAM Magnet Middle School Quarter One Players, and to the Kelly STEAM Magnet Middle School Teen Outreach Students who volunteered their time!
A big THANK YOU also to Norwich Community members including Mark Kulos, Norwich BOE, Klezmenschen including talented Norwich musician Roz Etra, ‘Mr. Magic’ himself Richard Rothstein, Blooming Into Greatness, and Norwich Free Academy Dance Company for your awesome performances!

The NPS Education Foundation was also able to honor some of the Norwich Public Schools staff who have received and implemented grants in their Norwich Public Schools classrooms in support of student achievement – THANK YOU for going the extra mile for our NPS students every day!

There is MUSIC in EVERY NPS school thanks to the tireless efforts by Norwich Public Schools to provide a comprehensive and engaging education to all NPS students! This school year, NPS Education Foundation helped secure funding for after-school band clinics to help develop NPS students’ abilities. Foundation Offering Up to Six (6) $250 Mini-Grants – Winter 2024

The Norwich Public Schools Education Foundation is pleased to offer grants in support of student achievement for Winter 2024.
Mini-Grants
The Norwich Public Schools Education Foundation is offering up to six (6) Mini-Grants up to $250 each. Mini-Grants will be awarded for grants that support Norwich Public Schools student achievement.  Mini-Grant applications may be for less than $250.  A single Mini-Grant application may be submitted by one or more NPS staff members.  Submission deadline: February 2, 2024.

The Norwich Public Schools Education Foundation invites any NPS Staff members to get involved with the Foundation’s mission of supporting the Norwich Public Schools in providing a challenging and enriching educational experience that maximizes the learning potential of every NPS student and prepares each NPS student to succeed in the 21st century.

Foundation Awards $3,694 in grants to NPS Classrooms in support of NPS Student Achievement

The Foundation recently awarded $3,694 in grants to Norwich Public Schools classrooms in support of student achievement. The grants include:
– “It’s All About Science” awarded to Uncas Elementary.
– Support for the upcoming production of “Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka for Kids” musical at Kelly STEAM Magnet Middle School.
– “Using Decodables for Successful Independent Reading” at Wequonnoc Arts & Technology Magnet School.
– “Interactive Reading and Math Materials” for Students with Special Needs K-1 at Moriarty Environmental Sciences Magnet School.
– Materials to Support Students with Complex Communications and Behavior Needs at Samuel Huntington Elementary.
– “Mindful Middle Schoolers” at Teachers’ Memorial Global Studies Magnet Middle School.
– “Lunar New Year at NPS” by staff at Veterans Elementary School
– “Fiesta!” at Uncas Elementary.
The Foundation has awarded $123,694 to NPS classrooms in support of NPS student achievement.
